#BeMyGuest: A Month of Mutual Blogging

As in most walks of life, the simplest ideas are the best. The sorts of ideas that take little time, little effort and yet leave you scratching your head saying: “Why didn’t I think of that?” I’m fortunate enough to know someone who seems to be able to come up with such ideas on an enviably regular basis and his latest one, #BeMyGuest, is a stroke of genius.

Devised by Adam Vincenzini (@adamvincenzini ) of ‘a year without newspapers’ and ‘defining social media in 140 characters’ fame, and marcomms guru Emily Cagle (@emilycagle), #BeMyGuest is a month of mutual blogging throughout March. Those taking part will agree to write at least one post for someone else’s blog, and feature at least one guest post from that blog’s author on their own blog in return. It’s the social media equivalent of a wife-swapping party, if you will. Throw your car keys into a bowl and try something new…

The beauty of the idea is not only that it gives me, for example, more exposure to other people’s readers, but more so that it brings me into contact with new blogs, new authors and new interesting people. I’ve already added half a dozen new blogs to my RSS feed and we’re only four days into the month!

I’m honoured and looking forward to having no less than four guest posts lined up on Tribal Boogie over the next few weeks from:
> Kerry Gaffney, Head of Digital at PR giant Porter Novelli (@kerrymg)
> experienced media pro Lucy Thorpe (@lucythorpe)
> award-winning PR consultancy Willoughby PR (@willoughbypr)
> Rebecca Taylor, former colleague & Account Manager at the rapidly growing Cirkle Communications (@rebeccaatcirkle)
