With search algorithms advancing almost weekly and real-time search providing instant online updates, marketers are at least starting to understand the impact that their activities can have on both their clients and their own online reputations. Failure to manage this process can be pretty catastrophic, as this case study about a recruitment agency I blogged about proves. But are you monitoring your personal reputation online? You should, as I found out this week.
- Try and buy your name as a domain name. And then do something with it (a blog will do) and get it SEO’d! What you’re trying to do is to get your own website listed top of Google for a search on your name
- Make sure you are listed on social networking sites and use your own name wherever possible
- Register your blog with several blog directories
- Read other’s blog and make intelligent comments, entering your real name
And to Paul J. Sutton of Rochester, USA: leave it out mate, you’re giving me a bad rap!
