30 Sep The Friday Five: Content Marketing Philosophy, Evolving PR, Instagram Optimisation & Media Entrapment
The whole Sam Allardyce media entrapment episode has been bothering me this week. And not just because it overshadowed an excellent Tottenham away win in the Champions League. Were the tactics employed by The Telegraph really ‘in the public interest’ in this instance? I’m not so sure. Maybe there’s more to come, but in the meantime I’ve written and spoken about my feelings in more detail below.
Elsewhere, the CIPR election results were announced on Wednesday, and congratulations to Sarah Hall on becoming President Elect. But rather pertinently, there was a turnout of just 13.5% of the estimated 12,000 CIPR members. That’s pretty awful, and something that Sarah is going to have to address is the lack of interest in what the CIPR does. More on that another time though, as I’ve asked Sarah to answer a few questions for a post on this blog in the next week or two. Look out for that as it’ll be an interesting conversation!

For a summary of the week’s major news in a tad over 5 minutes, check out this week’s edition of Digital Drive Time below. Aside from Allardyce and the CIPR elections, I’m talking about the widespread introduction of Facebook at Work (Facebook’s enterprise tool), the rather bizarre announcement of Snapchat Spectacles (a poor man’s Google Glass, anyone?) and I’ve a brilliantly bad example of Facebook advertising that went ‘viral’ for all the wrong reasons!
